What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results. All major search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo have primary search results, where web pages and various other forms of content are shown and ranked based on what the search engines algorithm considers most relevant to the user. There are two different types of results, paid and organic. The goal of SEO is to get a website ranked organically. There are various methods used to accomplish this goal with tactics referred to as on-page and off-page SEO which include backlinks, keyword research, content writing, etc.

Why is Search Engine Optimization Important?

There’s a misconception people have that once their website is up and running the job is done, and it will attract traffic effortlessly. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. If your business requires a website, SEO is not something that can be overlooked. Google handles over 77 thousand queries per second, which roughly translates to 2 trillion queries per year. People use Google to find products, services and companies every day, and if you’re not on the first page of the search results, you’re missing out on traffic to your website and potentially new customers. When a website is optimized for search engines, it makes the users experience better which can lead to higher conversion rates. We don’t view SEO as a marketing effort, rather a business investment. In comparison to paying for your website to be advertised, having your website clicked on via Google actually generates more meaningful traffic as you attract users who are specifically looking for what you’re offering, rather than them clicking an ad they may or may not be interested in.

  • Backlinks: Backlinks, also known as inbound links or incoming links, are links from one website to another. Google considers backlinks as “votes” for a specific page. The more websites linking to you, the higher your ranking will be on the results page. We make sure your site is linked to from other sites that boast high Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA).
